Addon Installation

AI for Gravity Forms is a premium plugin. After purchasing it, you will immediately get an email with your license key and download link for the addon. You can also download it from your WPMonks account.

• After downloading the plugin zip file you need to login into your WordPress dashboard and then navigate to Plugins -> Add New. 
• Click on the upload button and then browse the zip file for addon.
• After successful installation don’t forget to Activate the addon.

License Activation

License activation is one of the important steps that shouldn’t be skipped. It helps you keep the plugin updated with the latest features and security fixes. Follow the below steps to get and activate your license key.

• After your purchase, you should have received an email that contains the license key. In case you don’t have it you can login into your WPMonks account and then click on the View Details and Downloads link. This will show your license key.
• Login into your website backend and then navigate to Forms -> Booster.
• Click on the settings icon at the bottom left corner and then navigate to the Licences section.
• Now paste your license key and click on the Activate button.

OpenAI API key

AI for Gravity Forms uses OpenAI API for all the AI-related tasks. Before you can start using the plugin you need to add your openAI API key. Follow the below step-by-step guide for getting your key.

• Go to the OpenAI website and then click on Sign Up. If you already have an account then you should use the Log In instead. Both OpenAI API and ChatGPT are different services by the same company. So, you must not confuse the API with ChatGPT.
• Now navigate to the API Section and click on Create new secret key.
• After you have generated the key then copy it. 
• Now go to your website’s backend and navigate to Forms -> Booster.
• Click on the settings icon and then go to the AI section. Here paste your key input OpenAI API key.
• Click on the save button.

How to Use AI for Gravity Forms

We have a lot of features planned which will help you use AI in Gravity Forms. We will continue to update this article over time as and when we add new features. Below is the step-by-step guide for each AI feature available.

Improve Labels

This feature lets you use AI to suggest some good field labels for your existing form fields. You can give instructions to AI about what kind of labels you want and it will give you 3 suggestions for each label.

1. From your WordPress dashboard navigate to Forms -> Booster.
2. Select the form for which you want to generate label suggestions. After form selection, the page will reload.
3. Now click on the AI panel and go to the Improve Labels Section.

Here you will get the following options

• Optimize with AI: Here you have 3 built-in prompt buttons ( Rephrase, Friendly, and Formal ). Clicking any of these buttons will automatically put the prompt for generating labels.
• Text Prompt: You can edit your added prompt using prompt buttons or write your own. Basically these are the instructions for the AI to modify the labels.
• Generate Labels: Once you click this button then it will take your existing prompt and start generating the label ideas for all the form fields.
• Generated Text with AI: Here you can see all your existing form fields and for each field will have 3 label choices. You can see it getting implemented on the form by clicking on any of the choices. You can also regenerate the labels for this particular field by clicking the Generate Labels for this field button

If you don’t want to generate new labels for the whole form then you can also click on any field inside the preview and then generate labels for it.

Once you are happy with the changes then click on the Save button to make the changes live.

AI Image Generation

This feature lets you use AI to generate images on form submission. You can use Gravity Forms merge tags for the AI image generation prompt. The generated images will be uploaded to the WordPress media library. They can also be shown in confirmation messages as well as sent in email notifications.

• From your website’s backend, go to Forms -> Booster.
• Select the form in which you want to use the AI image generation feature.
• Now go to the AI panel and select the Image Generation section. Here you will get the option to generate and edit image generation feed. Each feed is a set of settings that will be executed on form submission. Under each feed, you will get the following settings.
  • Enable this Feed: The feed will only be processed for generating an image at form submission if this setting is checked.
  • Feed Name: Since you can create multiple feeds, this will help you recognize the feeds by name. You can give it any name you want. The feed name will also show in Gravity Forms entry notes if you map the image generation results to Notes.
  • AI Model: You can choose from the Dall-e 3 model and the Dall-e 2 model.
  • Image size: Here you can choose from the different image sizes provided by the AI models.
  • HD Images: This option is only available for the Dall-e 3 model. It will add more details to the images.
  • Image Style: The Dall-e 3 model comes with the option to choose between Vivid and Natural styles.
  • Prompt: This is the most important setting of the feed as it describes the kind of image that should be generated. Write in plain English about the kind of image you want to generate. You can also use Gravity Forms merge tags and combine them with your text for the prompt.
  • Map results to field: With this setting the URL of the image will be added to either Gravity Forms entry notes or a field of your form. If you have mapped it to a field then you can use it in confirmation messages or emails to show the image.
• Once you have edited the feed settings then click on the Save button to make your changes live.

AI Text Generation

This feature lets you generate AI text on form submission. You can map the generated text to any form fields or Gravity Forms notes. After mapping then this can be shown in confirmation text or notification emails using merge tags.

• From your website’s backend navigate to Forms -> Booster.
• Select the form for which you want to use the AI text generation feature.
• Now Navigate to the AI panel and select the text generation section. Here you will get all the options for enabling text generation on form submission using merge tags.
  • Enable this feed: Since you can have multiple feeds for text generation. Use this feature to enable or disable a feed.
  • Feed Name: This is the name of the text generation feed. You can name it anything as this is for your reference.
  • AI Model: Here you can select the model you want to use. Right now you can choose from GPT-4o, GPT-4, GPT- 4 Turbo and GPT-3.5 Turbo
  • AI Context: Here you tell the AI to behave in a certain manner. Let’s say you set the context to ‘ You are a standup comedian with a great sense of humor’. This will result in AI generating funny responses for the user prompts. The context will give a personality to the AI. You can use Gravity Forms merge tags in this field.
  • Prompt: This acts as an instruction for the AI model. This can be considered as the question you are asking the AI.
  • Max Tokens: This setting controls the length of the response. 1000 tokens are around 750 words. So, if you set the limit too low, the result will get truncated. You can use this to control the amount of money spent on each text generation request.
  • Temperate: It is used to add uniqueness to the generated text responses. Its range can be set between 0 to 1. A higher range means a unique response but can also result in lower accuracy.
  • Map Results to Field: This setting saves the text responses either in notes or an existing form field.
• You can add multiple feeds for generating different kind of text responses at a form submission.

AI for Image Recognition ( Vision )

The vision capabilities of openAI lets you ask questions about the uploaded image. Like if you upload an image of fish then it can tell you about what kind of fish it is, where it is usually found, what kind of water it is found in and other details.

• From your website’s backend go to Forms -> Booster and choose the form.
• Now go to the AI panel and select the Vision section. Here you will find the following settings
  • Enable this feed: Use this setting to enable or disable this vision AI feed on the selected form.
  • Feed Name: Give the feed a descriptive name so, that you can easily figure out the purpose of the feed.
  • AI Model: At this moment Vision AI supports GPT-4o and GPT-4 Turbo models.
  • Detail: This control has three setting values ( Auto, Low, and High ). If you set it to Low then it will consume fewer tokens but will process a lower-quality image so, it may miss out on some finer details from the pic. The default value is Auto which lets the model decide the quality that should be used.
  • Max Tokens: It is highly useful in case you are sending multiple images using the multi-upload field of Gravity Forms.
  • Take Image From: This setting tells the feed to take images from a particular field of the form. It supports both single-file and multi-file upload fields.
  • Prompt: Prompt is the text that gets executed on the uploaded image. You can consider it as the question you want to ask for the uploaded field. The prompt can also take advantage of the Gravity Forms merge tags.
  • Map Result to Field: With this setting you can store the Vision AI response in form field or entry notes.

Which OpenAI model does this addon use?

We are using the latest, fastest, and cheapest available openAI model which is gpt-4o. For image generation, it uses Dalle-3 and Dalle-2 models.

How much does using OpenAI cost?

It will cost you around $5 to generate 1 million words. So, if your form labels are 1000 words in total then for the whole form it will cost you less than a cent.

What should I do if I need more label suggestions for a specific field?

You can generate more suggestions for a particular field by using the button under the suggestions for that field.

Will there be more features added to the AI for the Gravity Forms plugin?
